Due to years of childhood abuse and neglect, alongside refused access to gender reaffirming medical treatments, Taylor has had extensive mental health problems for most of his life.
The stress of his indefinite sentence and the pressure of preparing for an imminent parole board hearing have exacerbated these issues. He has tried to take his life multiple times over the past few weeks.
In response, the prison have held several meetings about his mental health. During one of these meetings, Taylor’s stuff was packed up and without being given a chance to say goodbye to anyone, he was moved to HMP Peterborough.
Peterborough is a notorious prison that has maltreated those who it incarcerates with medical abuse and more. It is run by Sodexo for profit. Taylor and his friends know the facilities at the prison are unable to keep Taylor safe and give him the care he needs. In the hospital wing of the prison where he is currently being held, he can constantly hear others screaming.
Taylor needs to be transferred to a hospital immediately. He has been requesting help with his mental health since he was sentenced to IPP so many years ago, and it’s a disgrace that in the mean time the prison system has made his condition so much worse.
Email or phone Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS trust to demand they find a bed space for Taylor in a hospital where his mental health needs will be met, immediately.
